April is Maritime Month at the Camden Public Library

Throughout April, the Camden Public Library will host a photography exhibit and a speaker series, celebrating our local maritime heritage. The exhibit is an intriguing sample of the exquisite photos from the Ed Coffin Collection of the Penobscot Marine Museum. The exhibit will be on display from April 2 through the end of the month. Read and chat – entirely in Spanish! This Spanish language reading and conversation group  will continue on “second and fourth Tuesday” meetings  at 1:00 pm at the Camden Public Library. We’ll chat in Spanish about what we’re reading (books, magazines, etc.) and decide how to proceed. How a warmer Gulf and shifting fisheries have changed Maine’s coastal ecosystems The Gulf of Maine has undergone substantial change in the last quarter century. Lobster landings are at an all-time high, a booming urchin fishery went bust, and summertime water temperatures have increased steadily. With support from Maine Sea Grant, researchers at Bigelow Laboratory for Ocean Sciences have been tracking these shifting ecosystems across the state.
