“The world is never the same once a good poem has been added to it.” —Dylan Thomas
Love trees? Love poetry? Please join us for this PoeTREE appreciation event in Camden!
The Camden Conservation Commission and Camden Public Library invite the public to celebrate our trees on Tuesday, May 20, from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. outside the Library! Camden, with its tree lined streets and canopied neighborhoods, has been a proud Tree City USA community since 1996.
Everyone is welcome to convene at 1:00 p.m. on the corner of Atlantic Ave and Rt. 1 across from the big library steps, where we’ll kick off with a tree planting, followed by a brief program of Arbor Day-themed inspiration. Whether you’re curious about how to participate in Camden’s Street Tree program, in the mood for tree-themed poetry (read aloud by a host of lovely folks), or just happen to wander into Harbor Park–you are welcome to join us.
Got the poetry bug and want to participate? We have a limited number of open spots remaining for anyone interested in writing and/or reading publicly. Please email Sam Sharff at samanthaleec@gmail.com with questions.
This is a joint program of the Camden Conservation Commission and the Camden Public Library, and is part of The Arbor Day Foundation’s Tree City USA Program. We hope you will join us!
Note: if it’s raining, we’ll move inside the library to the Jean Picker Room.
