Camden Public Library welcomes local Rotarian Dwight Leeper, who recently returned from his fourth trip to Senegal on a humanitarian program on bringing water to the Bedik people of southeastern Senegal.
Dwight Leeper has traveled to Kedougou in Senegal four times over the last few years on a Rotary Foundation grant, to introduce LifePumps deep-water pumps to the Senegalese government. The goal is to provide clean water to five communities in the Sahel region of Senegal.
Dwight will share some of their experience with this project over the years during this presentation on Thursday, June 12, at 6:30 p.m. in the Picker Room.
Dwight’s philosophy, borrowed from Scouts, is “to leave the world a better place than we found it.” His Rotary journey began in 2002. He has served Rotary International in many capacities culminating as District Governor 2012-13 during which he led a U.S./Canada National Immunization Day in Pakistan. He participated in a Rotary school project in Leogane, Haiti and a friendship exchange in Nepal. Most recently, he has been working in Senegal bringing water to the Bedik people in villages throughout the Kedougou region.
Dwight is retired from 20 years at Merrill Lynch and 25 years at Grey Global Group in NYC. He and his wife, Wendy, live in Camden and love visiting their 4 granddaughters.
