Jane’s Walk Camden

Meet at the cupola on the south lawn of Camden Public Library, 55 Main Street at 9:30 AM.
The walk begins at the Camden Public Library and its grounds, one of the town’s most beloved landmarks. Built through the generosity of summer resident Mary Louise Curtis Bok, the building, its terraced amphitheater, and gently sloping Harbor Park have long served as a gathering place for concerts, lectures, and civic celebrations, blending cultural life with sweeping coastal views. Proceed through town and learn about how the Great Fire of the late 19th century helped define the character of Main Street today. Then it’s on to the Village Green, a welcoming public space at the heart of town, perfect for community gatherings and the home of Camden’s Veteran’s Memorial Park.

Founded in 2006, Jane’s Walk is a movement of free, citizen-led walking conversations inspired by the life of Jane Jacobs. The annual Jane’s Walk festival takes place the first weekend in May, in more than 500 cities and towns around the globe. Jane’s Walks combine the simple act of exploring a place with personal observations, local history, and civic engagement.
