Improving the Trails, Improving the Experience with Trail Supervisor Erik Brooks

Tuesday, June 27, 2023 @ 6:30 pm 7:30 pm

Mountaintop vistas may be the destination, but the journey is equally, if not more important, than the few minutes spent on top. At Camden Hills State Park, Maine Conservation Corps and volunteers led by Trail Supervisor Erik Brooks are joining forces to improve the trails and thus the overall trail experience. Join Erik Brooks on Tuesday, June 27 at 6:30 PM at the Camden Public Library for a presentation on what’s happening this year at Camden Hills State Park, trail improvement strategies, and what you can do to protect and improve trails while out enjoying them.

This program will take place in the Picker Room and on Zoom. Register here to attend virtually: https://us02web.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_yVaGVd44T_Kkr7V-CKM8Sg

Erik Brooks loves to hike, run, climb, and ski. The Camden Hills are his playground. With technical skills learned on the AMC’s White Mountain Professional Trail Crew, and perspective from the ensuing decade of hiking and running and volunteering (mainly with the Maine Appalachian Trail Club), he is excited to be given the time and support to improve his local trails.  Trail Supervisor is a new position, and Erik has ambitions to improve every muddy, rutted, slippery stretch of trail – one at a time. Drawing on 13 years of trail maintenance experience, Erik teaches groups and individual volunteers both the how and why of trail maintenance.
