Exhibit Reception: “It’s the Small Things” with Union of Maine Visual Artists

The Midcoast/Downeast chapter of UMVA (Union of Maine Visual Artists) invites everyone to their Artists’ Reception to kick off their exhibit titled “It’s the Small Things,” on display at the library during the month of May. The exhibit features small works from 28 Maine artists in a variety of mediums, exploring what rekindles their spirits, brings them joy, or inspires introspection.

The Artists’ Reception will be held on Saturday, May 9, 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. in the Picker Room.

We are constantly reminded to remember to stop and smell the roses, to look on the bright side, and that it’s the small things that matter—admonitions that are hard to adhere to in difficult times. What small things attract your attention? What are the moments or experiences that get you through troubled times? What rekindles your spirit, sparks joy, or even offers some necessary distraction? Twenty-eight area artists interpret the theme.
