Join artist Deb Vendetti for this fun and exploratory two-session art workshop! Registration is for both sessions.
The first session (prep) is on Thursday, October 29. The second session (draw/paint) is on Thursday, November 5. The workshops begin at 10:00 AM and take place in the library’s Picker Room.
Discover a novel way to work with wax based water soluble media. This is especially geared to folks who make art on their kitchen or dinning room tables or with limited studio space. Great plasticity but without the mess! Materials list supplied below.

Because this workshop is free, we are asking participants to provide their own of some of the materials… which you will continue to enjoy after the workshop! If you purchase the following materials at Rockport Blueprint, tell them you are taking this class and you’ll get 10% off. You should have:
- Caran d’Ache Neocolor II Aquarelle Artists’ Pastels (water soluble wax pigment).
Rockport Blueprint has all of the colors, for $3 each!
If you like you can choose just a few colors to begin with- In addition to any colors you want, Deb recommends good base colors such as Sepia, Black, and/or Umber
- If you prefer to buy online you can get a set of 15 sticks from Dick Blick, $36.
- Various sizes sable watercolor brushes
- A large, synthetic flat or wash brush for applying the sealant base
- Liquitex professional matte medium or Golden Fluid matte medium for prepping your paper at home*
- 300 Series Bristol paper (smooth or vellum)*
We will provide:
- Test sheets of prepped Bristol paper with matte medium, but you will still need to have your own Smooth Bristol watercolor paper to prep at home after the first meeting*
- Cotton swabs/Q-tips
- Paper towels
- Yogurt containers for cleaning sealant brushes
- Cotton cosmetic pads
- Small cups for water
- Painter’s tape or artist’s tape
- A graphite pencil
*You will be prepping your own paper with a first coat at the first meeting to learn proper technique, and then at home (whatever size you want to work with subsequent to first meeting). You will need your own bristol paper in addition to the test sheets will will provide, but you could buy it after the first meeting to decide what size you want.
