Her words inspire honest expression and awaken the promise of freedom found within our own. Within Me mirrors the possibilities within each of us when we live intimately from the heart\, guiding us back to love\, where all things are possible. Because love is everything\, all at once.” \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nKaitlyn Rightmyer is a New York City-based artist and visionary\, exploring the depths of living fully alive from the heart. \n\n\n\n“They say the path is narrow—the path of the heart and the path of soul reclamation. The path is narrow because it’s so truly unique for each of us\, yet it feels vast in the ways it takes us far and wide as we walk it. This has at least been the way my story has unfolded.  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nIt feels as if I’ve lived many lifetimes in this one alone. DESCRIPTION:Enjoy the many benefits of tai chi and qigong through the exploration of movements and principles. These beginning classes are beneficial for people of all levels of fitness—developing awareness\, relaxation\, energy\, flexibility\, strength\, balance\, and pleasure in the open air. \n\n\n\nTai Chi meets in the Amphitheatre every Monday and Thursday morning at 10:30 a.m. \n\n\n\n\nAnna Dembska is a certified teacher of Yang Family tai chi. She studies tai chi and qigong with Mike Shunney in Rockland and Zhong Xuechao (Master Bing) from Wudang Mountain\, China. She has also studied Yang Family tai chi with Grandmaster Yang Jun and San Shou two-person play with Dr. Jay Dunbar and Kathleen Cusick. Anna is a singer\, composer\, and voice teacher by profession\, and her tai chi teaching is informed by its many similarities with vocal technique\, which she has been practicing and teaching for many years. \n\n\n\nClasses are by donation\, with a portion of the proceeds donated to the Camden Public Library. Join the Maine Public Health Association and mushroom educator Greg Marley at the Camden Public Library on Thursday\, May 21 at 6:30 PM to learn about Maine mushrooms and their connections to health. This talk will introduce the ways mushrooms can support health and explore the wild and cultivated species best known for their medicinal benefits. \n\n\n\nThis event is free and open to the public. He is a frequent speaker and lecturer and teaches mushroom identification and ecology to hundreds of new foragers. For more than two decades he has consulted in cases of mushroom poisoning across New England. \n\n\n\nGreg is the author of Mushrooms for Health: Medicinal Secrets of Northeastern Fungi (2009) and Chanterelle Dreams\, Amanita Nightmares\, The Love Lore and Mystique of Mushrooms (2010). He lives and mushrooms along the coast of Maine. When not mushrooming\, he works as a mental health trainer and consultant in suicide prevention and response after a loss.

DESCRIPTION:Yoga in the Amphitheatre is back! Enjoy breathtaking views of Camden Harbor while being guided through a sequence of Yoga poses that are at once grounding and uplifting. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nClasses are taught by Denyse Robinson\, Certified Yoga Teacher\, and will be held on Fridays at 9:00 am starting Friday\, May 1. Tuesdays morning yoga will resume starting Tuesday\, June 16. \n\n\n\nWe link breath with movement\, and mindfulness as we move together through an ever changing sequence of seated\, standing\, balance\, forward folds\, backbends and mildly inverted poses. \n\n\n\nFor more information and to get on Denyse’s email list\, please text her at 207-975-5325 or email at denyserobinson@gmail.com. DESCRIPTION:Every Friday\, at 11:00 am\, on the library’s YouTube Channel and Facebook Page\, the library will stream a brand new recording of local thespian\, Joseph Coté reading aloud selections from a wide variety of fascinating and entertaining books of fiction and non-fiction. \n\n\n\nFor May 22\, Coté will read aloud from Laurence Sterne’s The Life And Opinions of Tristram Shandy\, Gentleman. \n\n\n\nThe Life and Opinions of Tristram Shandy\, Gentleman is a novel written by Laurence Sterne. It was first published in nine volumes between 1759 and 1767. The novel is a fictional autobiography of the eponymous Tristram Shandy\, a man who is born in the middle of a conversation and whose life is shaped by a series of absurd and comical events. \n\n\n\nThe novel is notable for its unconventional structure\, which is non-linear and often digressive. It is written in a conversational style\, with the narrator frequently addressing the reader and commenting on his own writing process. The book is also known for its use of visual elements\, such as black pages to represent a character’s death and a blank page to represent a character’s silence. \n\n\n\nThe novel covers a wide range of topics\, including family relationships\, education\, religion\, and philosophy. It is also known for its bawdy humor and satirical commentary on contemporary society.  \n\n\n\nThe book was a critical and commercial success when it was first published and has since become a classic of English literature. It has been adapted for stage and screen numerous times and has influenced many writers\, including James Joyce and Virginia Woolf.  \n\n\n\nTristram’s father\, Walter Shandy\, was eccentric\, irritable\, and easily frustrated\, especially by interruptions or anything that challenged his authority\, From a little subacid kind of drollish impatience in his nature\, whenever it befell him\, he would never submit to it like a Christian; but would pish\, and huff\, and bounce\, and kick\, and play the Devil\, and write the bitterest Philippicks against the eye that ever man wrote. \n\n\n\nThe book is ostensibly Tristram’s narration of his life story. DESCRIPTION:We welcome donations of materials that can be added to our collection or sold to support our programs\, including: \n\n\n\n\nHardcover\, paperback\, and audio books\n\n\n\nCDs and DVDs in cases\n\n\n\nPuzzles bagged inside boxes\n\n\n\n\nDue to space and sorting limitations\, we can only accept 2 bags or boxes at a time. \n\n\n\nAll items must be in good or better condition. Items in poor / unsellable condition\, or for which there is no market\, create a financial burden for the Library and extra work for volunteers. \n\n\n\n\nPlease do NOT bring: \n\n\n\n\nBooks with mold or mildew\, musty smell\, water damage\, missing dust jackets\, stained or torn covers\, broken spines\, writing inside\, or other physical damage;\n\n\n\nTextbooks\, condensed books\, self-published books\, encyclopedias\, journals\, or magazines;\n\n\n\nCassette or VHS tapes;\n\n\n\nContemporary fiction more than 10 years old;\n\n\n\nMedical\, health\, computer\, technology\, or reference books more than 2 years old.\n\n\n\n\n\nDonations may be brought in boxes or bags to the blue door book shed located in the Meadow Parking Lot on Atlantic Avenue on Tuesdays from 9am – 12pm. Please do not leave donations at any other time – the weather will get to them before our volunteers do. \n\n\n\nWe rely on volunteers who generously give their time to accept\, sort\, and pack your donations. Due to their time and our space limitations\, we can only accept 2 bags or boxes at a time. Please be prepared to wait for a few minutes while a volunteer accepts your donation. \n\n\n\nIf you have a donation larger than 2 bags/boxes or are unable to come on a Tuesday morning\, please call the Library at (207) 236-3440. These beginning classes are beneficial for people of all levels of fitness—developing awareness\, relaxation\, energy\, flexibility\, strength\, balance\, and pleasure in the open air. \n\n\n\nTai Chi meets in the Amphitheatre every Monday and Thursday morning at 10:30 a.m. \n\n\n\n\nAnna Dembska is a certified teacher of Yang Family tai chi. She studies tai chi and qigong with Mike Shunney in Rockland and Zhong Xuechao (Master Bing) from Wudang Mountain\, China. She has also studied Yang Family tai chi with Grandmaster Yang Jun and San Shou two-person play with Dr. Jay Dunbar and Kathleen Cusick. Anna is a singer\, composer\, and voice teacher by profession\, and her tai chi teaching is informed by its many similarities with vocal technique\, which she has been practicing and teaching for many years. \n\n\n\nClasses are by donation\, with a portion of the proceeds donated to the Camden Public Library. DESCRIPTION:The Camden Public Library will host its annual Songwriters Coffeehouse on Thursday\, May 28 at 6:00 PM in the Picker Room. The Songwriters Coffeehouse is a tradition at the library going back years\, ever since the library began hosting and encouraging songwriting almost twenty years ago. The evening will feature live music from the musicians of the library’s Songwriters Sessions and in a range of styles and instruments\, from six-string guitar to piano to a cappella\, and a range from singer-songwriter to folk and folk rock. \n\n\n\nLeft to right\, the songwriters are Peter Saladino\, Frank Boscoe\, Ken Gross\, and Carol Graff; and in the front row\, Liz Cunningham and Ellen Berry.\n\n\n\nThere is no charge for admission although donations will be accepted. Coffee\, tea\, and refreshments will be available! Enjoy the music and celebrate continuing the Songwriters Coffeehouse tradition. \n\n\n\nThe songwriters have been meeting regularly all year to share their music and offer support and suggestions to one another\, and are eager to present their new work to the public.

DESCRIPTION:Yoga in the Amphitheatre is back! Enjoy breathtaking views of Camden Harbor while being guided through a sequence of Yoga poses that are at once grounding and uplifting. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nClasses are taught by Denyse Robinson\, Certified Yoga Teacher\, and will be held on Fridays at 9:00 am starting Friday\, May 1. Tuesdays morning yoga will resume starting Tuesday\, June 16. \n\n\n\nWe link breath with movement\, and mindfulness as we move together through an ever changing sequence of seated\, standing\, balance\, forward folds\, backbends and mildly inverted poses. \n\n\n\nFor more information and to get on Denyse’s email list\, please text her at 207-975-5325 or email at denyserobinson@gmail.com. DESCRIPTION:Camden Public Library\, along with the Camden Conservation Commission and Tree Corps will host PoeTREE\, an outdoor celebration of trees\, music\, and poetry\, on Saturday\, May 30\, from 1:00 to 2:30 pm in the Camden Amphitheatre. Everyone is welcome! \n\n\n\nIn the event of rain\, PoeTREE will be held inside in the Camden Public Library’s Picker Room. \n\n\n\nPoeTREE is part of the Arbor Day Foundation’s Tree City USA program and will include the planting of a new tree\, along with information about the town’s Tree Program\, which has added more than 100 shade trees to public spaces. \n\n\n\nThe program will also feature live music by Louisa Stancioff and readings of poetry inspired by trees. Community members are invited to participate by reading a favorite tree-related poem or sharing original work. A limited number of reading spots are available; those interested may sign up in advance by emailing samanthaleec@gmail.com. \n\n\n\nThe event highlights Camden’s longstanding commitment to its trees.  Designated a Tree City USA community by the Arbor Day Foundation since 1996\, Camden has spent more than three decades preserving and enhancing its tree canopy. \n\n\n\nThe event is free and open to the public. SUMMARY:Tai Chi and Qigong
DESCRIPTION:Enjoy the many benefits of tai chi and qigong through the exploration of movements and principles. These beginning classes are beneficial for people of all levels of fitness—developing awareness\, relaxation\, energy\, flexibility\, strength\, balance\, and pleasure in the open air. \n\n\n\nTai Chi meets in the Amphitheatre every Monday and Thursday morning at 10:30 a.m. \n\n\n\n\nAnna Dembska is a certified teacher of Yang Family tai chi. She studies tai chi and qigong with Mike Shunney in Rockland and Zhong Xuechao (Master Bing) from Wudang Mountain\, China. She has also studied Yang Family tai chi with Grandmaster Yang Jun and San Shou two-person play with Dr. Jay Dunbar and Kathleen Cusick. Anna is a singer\, composer\, and voice teacher by profession\, and her tai chi teaching is informed by its many similarities with vocal technique\, which she has been practicing and teaching for many years. \n\n\n\nClasses are by donation\, with a portion of the proceeds donated to the Camden Public Library. SUMMARY:Camden Philosophical Society: "The Relationship Between Language & the World
DESCRIPTION:The June 16th session will\, as usual\, be a hybrid gathering from 3:30-5:30 pm eastern on the third Tuesday of the month. All are welcome to participate\, in-person at the Picker Room of the Camden Public Library or by Zoom. That goes for visitors\, as well as year-rounders in Maine\, and friends of the society wherever you may be. \n\n\n\nIf you wish to join via Zoom\, please email sewright772@gmail.com. Click on the “Join Zoom Meeting” link in that invitation at the time of the event. \n\n\n\nOn June 16th Greg Fahy will present John Dewey’s views about experience and how our human ability for language impacts our relation to the world. Greg provides this overview: \n\n\n\n“I will give some background on Dewey’s life.  Suffice it to say here that Dewey was arguably the most influential American philosopher in the first half of the 20th century and had influence on the discipline of education as well as social and political philosophy.  In the past\, the Camden Philosophical Society has read sections of his work The Public and its Problems addressing the challenges of forming democratic social institutions.  Dewey is in the pragmatist school of American philosophy and aligns well with philosophers such as Charles Sanders Peirce and William James.   \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nIn this reading\, we look at Dewey’s account of experience\, which is resolutely anti-dualist\, and distinguishable clearly from the British Empiricist account of experience. And if we are going to begin philosophy in experience\, Dewey thinks it is important to have an account of experience that does not separate us from nature.  He thinks that our everyday language tends to presume separation\, which results in all sorts of philosophical conundrums that can be avoided if we only began with a more accurate and non-dualist account of experience.  In particular\, I think Dewey’s account of experience can respond in meaningful ways to the discussions of alienation and absurdism that we have had recently. ”  \n\n\n\nThis month’s reading will be the revised chapter on p. 31-73 from the second edition of John Dewey’s Experience And Nature\, which can be found here:
