SUMMARY:Copy That! Handwriting the Constitutional Amendments
DESCRIPTION:In celebration of our country’s 250th and knowing your rights\, Camden Public Library is hosting a week-long drop-in experience called “Copy That!” in which the public is invited to copy parts of the Constitutional amendments by hand. \n\n\n\nThe amendments\, writing materials\, and community prompt boards will be set up in the library rotunda from July 6-13 during open hours. Come on by and check it out! \n\n\n\nCopy as much or as little of any Constitutional amendment as you like. Indulge in our fancy dip pens and textured parchment\, or simply pick up a ballpoint and notebook paper. Everyone is invited to engage and reflect on the words in the Constitutional amendments\, their history\, and their importance today. \n\n\n\nYou are welcome to take your handwritten copies home\, or tape them up on the columns in the rotunda. You can also choose to contribute to the large group-written Constitutional amendments on beautiful mulberry paper—just pick up where the last person left off!  \n\n\n\nOn Thursday\, July 9\, Maine American Civil Liberties Union will have an informational table where you can pick up free materials\, and learn more about your rights and what democracy means today.

SUMMARY:Tai Chi and Qigong
DESCRIPTION:Enjoy the many benefits of tai chi and qigong through the exploration of movements and principles. These beginning classes are beneficial for people of all levels of fitness—developing awareness\, relaxation\, energy\, flexibility\, strength\, balance\, and pleasure in the open air. \n\n\n\nTai Chi meets in the Amphitheatre every Monday and Thursday morning at 10:30 a.m. \n\n\n\n\nAnna Dembska is a certified teacher of Yang Family tai chi. She studies tai chi and qigong with Mike Shunney in Rockland and Zhong Xuechao (Master Bing) from Wudang Mountain\, China. She has also studied Yang Family tai chi with Grandmaster Yang Jun and San Shou two-person play with Dr. Jay Dunbar and Kathleen Cusick. Anna is a singer\, composer\, and voice teacher by profession\, and her tai chi teaching is informed by its many similarities with vocal technique\, which she has been practicing and teaching for many years. \n\n\n\nClasses are by donation\, with a portion of the proceeds donated to the Camden Public Library. SUMMARY:Yoga in the Amphitheatre with Denyse Robinson
DESCRIPTION:Yoga in the Amphitheatre is back! Enjoy breathtaking views of Camden Harbor while being guided through a sequence of Yoga poses that are at once grounding and uplifting. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nClasses are taught by Denyse Robinson\, Certified Yoga Teacher\, and will be held on Tuesdays and Fridays at 9:00 am through October. In July\, yoga will also be held on Mondays and Thursdays at 7:45 am. \n\n\n\nWe link breath with movement\, and mindfulness as we move together through an ever changing sequence of seated\, standing\, balance\, forward folds\, backbends and mildly inverted poses. \n\n\n\nFor more information and to get on Denyse’s email list\, please text her at 207-975-5325 or email at denyserobinson@gmail.com. You are welcome to just show up\, but it is recommended to join the email list in case of a scheduling or location change due to weather. \n\n\n\nA limited number of mats\, blocks\, and straps are provided.  If you like a blanket for practice\, please bring one. SUMMARY:Book Donations Open at the Blue Door Book Shed
DESCRIPTION:We welcome donations of materials that can be added to our collection or sold to support our programs\, including: \n\n\n\n\nHardcover\, paperback\, and audio books\n\n\n\nCDs and DVDs in cases\n\n\n\nPuzzles bagged inside boxes\n\n\n\n\nDue to space and sorting limitations\, we can only accept 2 bags or boxes at a time. \n\n\n\nAll items must be in good or better condition. Items in poor / unsellable condition\, or for which there is no market\, create a financial burden for the Library and extra work for volunteers. \n\n\n\n\nPlease do NOT bring: \n\n\n\n\nBooks with mold or mildew\, musty smell\, water damage\, missing dust jackets\, stained or torn covers\, broken spines\, writing inside\, or other physical damage;\n\n\n\nTextbooks\, condensed books\, self-published books\, encyclopedias\, journals\, or magazines;\n\n\n\nCassette or VHS tapes;\n\n\n\nContemporary fiction more than 10 years old;\n\n\n\nMedical\, health\, computer\, technology\, or reference books more than 2 years old.\n\n\n\n\n\nDonations may be brought in boxes or bags to the blue door book shed located in the Meadow Parking Lot on Atlantic Avenue on Tuesdays from 9am – 12pm. Please do not leave donations at any other time – the weather will get to them before our volunteers do. \n\n\n\nWe rely on volunteers who generously give their time to accept\, sort\, and pack your donations. Due to their time and our space limitations\, we can only accept 2 bags or boxes at a time. Please be prepared to wait for a few minutes while a volunteer accepts your donation. \n\n\n\nIf you have a donation larger than 2 bags/boxes or are unable to come on a Tuesday morning\, please call the Library at (207) 236-3440. A staff member will collect and forward your information to a volunteer who will contact you to make alternative arrangements. \n\n\n\nPlease do not bring donations directly to the Library – there is no storage available at this time. \n\n\n\nThank you for your support of the Camden Public Library!

DESCRIPTION:Camden Public Library welcomes Le Bon Truc Trio to play traditional French dance and folk music from Bretagne\, Alsace\, Auvergne\, and elsewhere\, right here in the Camden Amphitheatre on Tuesday\, July 7 at 6:00 PM. Featuring Steve Gruverman on clarinets\, sax\, and flute; Barb Truex on dulcimer\, banjo\, and tenor guitar; and Gary Chapin on accordions. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nOver the decade\, Le Bon Truc has played on street corners\, in cafes\, at dance festivals\, in barns\, in an orchard\, and in a surprising number of churches. Their goal is to bring a little bit of uncomplicated rhythmic and melodic happiness with us wherever we go. And it’s great for dancing! \n\n\n\nBring a camp chair or blanket for comfortable seating in the Amphitheatre. Families\, picnics\, and dogs welcome! Free as always. \n\n\n\n* If there is rain\, the concert will take place in the Picker Room.

DESCRIPTION:Every Friday\, at 11:00 am\, on the library’s YouTube Channel and Facebook Page\, the library will stream a brand new recording of local thespian\, Joseph Coté reading aloud selections from a wide variety of fascinating and entertaining books of fiction and non-fiction. \n\n\n\nFor July 10\, Coté will read aloud from Ford Maddox Ford’s The Good Soldier: A Tale of Passion. \n\n\n\nThe Good Soldier: A Tale of Passion  is set just before World War I\, and chronicles the tragedy of Edward Ashburnham and his seemingly perfect marriage\, along with that of his two American friends.  \n\n\n\nThe novel is told using a series of flashbacks in non-chronological order\, a literary technique that formed part of Ford’s pioneering view of literary impressionism.  \n\n\n\nFord employs the device of the unreliable narrator to great effect\, as the main character gradually reveals a version of events that is quite different from what the introduction leads the reader to believe. The novel was loosely based on two incidents of adultery and on Ford’s messy personal life\, specifically the agonies Ford went through with his wife and his mistress in the six preceding years.  \n\n\n\nIn 1998\, the Modern Library ranked The Good Soldier 30th on its list of the 100 best English-language novels of the 20th century.
