ANG is an educational\, non-profit organization whose main purpose is education and cultural development through participation in and encouragement of interest in the art of needlepoint. The Guild was formed in 1972 and has over 10\,200 members. The Pine Tree Chapter was formed in 1986 by stitchers who wished to learn more about needlepoint.

DESCRIPTION:Enjoy the many benefits of tai chi and qigong through the exploration of movements and principles. These beginning classes are beneficial for people of all levels of fitness—developing awareness\, relaxation\, energy\, flexibility\, strength\, balance\, and pleasure in the open air. \n\n\n\nTai Chi meets in the Amphitheatre every Monday and Thursday morning at 10:30 a.m. \n\n\n\n\nAnna Dembska is a certified teacher of Yang Family tai chi. She studies tai chi and qigong with Mike Shunney in Rockland and Zhong Xuechao (Master Bing) from Wudang Mountain\, China. She has also studied Yang Family tai chi with Grandmaster Yang Jun and San Shou two-person play with Dr. Jay Dunbar and Kathleen Cusick. Anna is a singer\, composer\, and voice teacher by profession\, and her tai chi teaching is informed by its many similarities with vocal technique\, which she has been practicing and teaching for many years. \n\n\n\nClasses are by donation\, with a portion of the proceeds donated to the Camden Public Library. DESCRIPTION:Yoga in the Amphitheatre is back! Enjoy breathtaking views of Camden Harbor while being guided through a sequence of Yoga poses that are at once grounding and uplifting. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nClasses are taught by Denyse Robinson\, Certified Yoga Teacher\, and will be held on Tuesdays and Fridays at 9:00 am through October. In July\, yoga will also be held on Mondays and Thursdays at 7:45 am. \n\n\n\nWe link breath with movement\, and mindfulness as we move together through an ever changing sequence of seated\, standing\, balance\, forward folds\, backbends and mildly inverted poses. \n\n\n\nFor more information and to get on Denyse’s email list\, please text her at 207-975-5325 or email at denyserobinson@gmail.com. DESCRIPTION:We welcome donations of materials that can be added to our collection or sold to support our programs\, including: \n\n\n\n\nHardcover\, paperback\, and audio books\n\n\n\nCDs and DVDs in cases\n\n\n\nPuzzles bagged inside boxes\n\n\n\n\nDue to space and sorting limitations\, we can only accept 2 bags or boxes at a time. \n\n\n\nAll items must be in good or better condition. Items in poor / unsellable condition\, or for which there is no market\, create a financial burden for the Library and extra work for volunteers. \n\n\n\n\nPlease do NOT bring: \n\n\n\n\nBooks with mold or mildew\, musty smell\, water damage\, missing dust jackets\, stained or torn covers\, broken spines\, writing inside\, or other physical damage;\n\n\n\nTextbooks\, condensed books\, self-published books\, encyclopedias\, journals\, or magazines;\n\n\n\nCassette or VHS tapes;\n\n\n\nContemporary fiction more than 10 years old;\n\n\n\nMedical\, health\, computer\, technology\, or reference books more than 2 years old.\n\n\n\n\n\nDonations may be brought in boxes or bags to the blue door book shed located in the Meadow Parking Lot on Atlantic Avenue on Tuesdays from 9am – 12pm. Please do not leave donations at any other time – the weather will get to them before our volunteers do. \n\n\n\nWe rely on volunteers who generously give their time to accept\, sort\, and pack your donations. Due to their time and our space limitations\, we can only accept 2 bags or boxes at a time. Please be prepared to wait for a few minutes while a volunteer accepts your donation. \n\n\n\nIf you have a donation larger than 2 bags/boxes or are unable to come on a Tuesday morning\, please call the Library at (207) 236-3440. SUMMARY:The Truth About Rodenticides: Expert Panel and Community Q&A\, In Partnership with Wild Ones Midcoast Maine
DESCRIPTION:Download the recording of this event\n\n\n\n\nRodenticide usage for pest control is becoming rampant and has devastating impacts on wildlife. Instead of solving the problem\, these poisons are killing wildlife including rodents’ natural predators\, as well as pets. Rodents who eat rodenticides from bait boxes are then consumed by predators\, who are poisoned in turn. Homeowners may not even know that their own pest management systems uses rodenticides and are contributing to what has been called “the new DDT.” This begs the urgent question: are rodenticides causing the next Silent Spring? \n\n\n\nWild Ones Midcoast Maine and Camden Public Library are partnering to present “The Truth About Rodenticides\,” a community event featuring a panel of experts from around the state who will educate us about rodenticides from their unique perspectives. We will also learn about effective methods of Integrated Pest Management that don’t use these dangerous poisons. Pest management experts will display rodenticide-free rodent control options including snap trap boxes and the Smart Home Defense system\, a data driven rodent control technology. \n\n\n\nFollowing brief presentations by each panel member\, we will open up the room to Q&A and discussion. The goal of the evening is to spread awareness of this crisis\, get up to date on related legislation\, learn about alternatives\, ask questions\, share dialogue\, and take a concrete step towards protecting our wildlife. Everyone is welcome. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRodenticides that target rodents are actually devastating our native wildlife\, including the very animals that naturally control rodent populations.\n\n\n\nExperts on our panel will include: \n\n\n\nThis unassuming “bait box” will have terrible consequences down the food chain. However\, the reality of the bill (LD 356) is more complex. SUMMARY:Tai Chi and Qigong
DESCRIPTION:Enjoy the many benefits of tai chi and qigong through the exploration of movements and principles. These beginning classes are beneficial for people of all levels of fitness—developing awareness\, relaxation\, energy\, flexibility\, strength\, balance\, and pleasure in the open air. \n\n\n\nTai Chi meets in the Amphitheatre every Monday and Thursday morning at 10:30 a.m. \n\n\n\n\nAnna Dembska is a certified teacher of Yang Family tai chi. She studies tai chi and qigong with Mike Shunney in Rockland and Zhong Xuechao (Master Bing) from Wudang Mountain\, China. She has also studied Yang Family tai chi with Grandmaster Yang Jun and San Shou two-person play with Dr. Jay Dunbar and Kathleen Cusick. Anna is a singer\, composer\, and voice teacher by profession\, and her tai chi teaching is informed by its many similarities with vocal technique\, which she has been practicing and teaching for many years. \n\n\n\nClasses are by donation\, with a portion of the proceeds donated to the Camden Public Library. DESCRIPTION:Yoga in the Amphitheatre is back! Enjoy breathtaking views of Camden Harbor while being guided through a sequence of Yoga poses that are at once grounding and uplifting. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nClasses are taught by Denyse Robinson\, Certified Yoga Teacher\, and will be held on Tuesdays and Fridays at 9:00 am through October. In July\, yoga will also be held on Mondays and Thursdays at 7:45 am. \n\n\n\nWe link breath with movement\, and mindfulness as we move together through an ever changing sequence of seated\, standing\, balance\, forward folds\, backbends and mildly inverted poses. \n\n\n\nFor more information and to get on Denyse’s email list\, please text her at 207-975-5325 or email at denyserobinson@gmail.com. DESCRIPTION:Every Friday\, at 11:00 am\, on the library’s YouTube Channel and Facebook Page\, the library will stream a brand new recording of local thespian\, Joseph Coté reading aloud selections from a wide variety of fascinating and entertaining books of fiction and non-fiction. \n\n\n\nFor June 26\, Coté will read aloud from On the Boardwalk: A Memoir by Martin Sherman.  \n\n\n\nA memoir from the writer of the 1979 Broadway success BENT with a foreword by Sir Ian McKellen \n\n\n\nSherman takes us on a journey through America in the mid twentieth century\, starting in New Jersey – where he was born in the 1930s to a Jewish immigrant family – ending on Broadway with the premier of his seminal play Bent starring Richard Gere. \n\n\n\nOn route\, we encounter other famous performers including Meryl Streep\, Bee Gees\, Joan Baez\, but the scene-stealing character is always his father – a charismatic narcissist. \n\n\n\nWe stop off in Woodstock\, Los Angeles and London – a city Martin would eventually make home; he relays his story with self-deprecating humor as he struggles to make it in theatre\, with his sexuality\, and under the shadow of the inheritable disease that killed his mother tragically early – a disease from which he finds himself finally free\, as he turns forty in the book’s closing pages. \n\n\n\nClick the links to find the library’s YouTube Channel and Facebook Page. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThoughts to share? DESCRIPTION:The Camden Public Library is pleased to offer a walking tour of downtown Camden for the 15th year in a row! Tours will take place on select summer Fridays at 4:00 PM. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThis entertaining and educational walking tour features a handful of historic sites in downtown Camden\, including the Camden Public Library grounds and Amphitheatre\, which were designated a National Historic Landmark in 2013. Learn about the people\, places\, and industries that continue to make Camden a special destination. \n\n\n\nThe tour begins in the Children’s Garden of the Camden Public Library on Atlantic Avenue and ends at the Village Green. DESCRIPTION:We welcome donations of materials that can be added to our collection or sold to support our programs\, including: \n\n\n\n\nHardcover\, paperback\, and audio books\n\n\n\nCDs and DVDs in cases\n\n\n\nPuzzles bagged inside boxes\n\n\n\n\nDue to space and sorting limitations\, we can only accept 2 bags or boxes at a time. \n\n\n\nAll items must be in good or better condition. Items in poor / unsellable condition\, or for which there is no market\, create a financial burden for the Library and extra work for volunteers. \n\n\n\n\nPlease do NOT bring: \n\n\n\n\nBooks with mold or mildew\, musty smell\, water damage\, missing dust jackets\, stained or torn covers\, broken spines\, writing inside\, or other physical damage;\n\n\n\nTextbooks\, condensed books\, self-published books\, encyclopedias\, journals\, or magazines;\n\n\n\nCassette or VHS tapes;\n\n\n\nContemporary fiction more than 10 years old;\n\n\n\nMedical\, health\, computer\, technology\, or reference books more than 2 years old.\n\n\n\n\n\nDonations may be brought in boxes or bags to the blue door book shed located in the Meadow Parking Lot on Atlantic Avenue on Tuesdays from 9am – 12pm. Please do not leave donations at any other time – the weather will get to them before our volunteers do. \n\n\n\nWe rely on volunteers who generously give their time to accept\, sort\, and pack your donations. Due to their time and our space limitations\, we can only accept 2 bags or boxes at a time. Please be prepared to wait for a few minutes while a volunteer accepts your donation. \n\n\n\nIf you have a donation larger than 2 bags/boxes or are unable to come on a Tuesday morning\, please call the Library at (207) 236-3440. DESCRIPTION:Irene Talbot McLellanResident of Camden since 1950 and passed away in August 2001  \n\n\n\nCamden Public Library is honored to exhibit a collection of beautiful quilted tapestries\, as well as needlepoint pieces\, created by the late Irene Talbot McLellan. The wall hangings feature Maine scenes\, some of which will be very familiar. The exhibit was organized by Irene McLellan’s daughters. They will be on display in the Picker Room Gallery through July 30. \n\n\n\nThe public is invited to an exhibit reception on Monday\, July 13 at 4:00 PM.
