Her poem “Thoughts on Migration” was selected for the 2022 Maine Literary Award for Short Poetry. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nLaura Bonazzoli is the author of two novels: Consecration Pond (Toad Hall Editions 2022)\, a novel-in-stories set along a fictional pond in rural Maine; and Our Share of Morning (Sibylline Press 2025)\, a historical novel set in a New England mill town in the 1930s and 40s. Our Share of Morning was a 2026 finalist for the American Fiction Award for family sagas and a 2025 runner-up for the New England Book Festival Award for regional fiction. \n\n\n\nLaura’s short stories and essays have appeared in print and online journals\, and her poetry has been published in more than thirty literary magazines and several anthologies. An opening reception for the exhibit will occur on Saturday\, October 10 from 2 PM – 4 PM. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nHistoric preservation has often been understood as an effort to arrest change — to retain buildings\, landscapes\, and objects as physical evidence of the past. But preservation and permanence are not necessarily the same thing. Deconstruction presents another possibility: a building can be dismantled without being erased\, its materials and artifacts recovered\, its construction methods studied\, and its history carried forward into new forms. \n\n\n\nSecond Story Builders works within this space between preservation and transformation\, using deconstruction and reclaimed-material construction to connect the material heritage of Maine’s older buildings with the people\, skills\, and ideas that will shape what comes next. Once a heavily vandalized and neglected dumping ground\, it was miraculously rescued by a local resident and transformed into a peaceful ecological sanctuary and Green Burial Preserve. The film tells its story. She studies tai chi and qigong with Mike Shunney in Rockland and Zhong Xuechao (Master Bing) from Wudang Mountain\, China. She has also studied Yang Family tai chi with Grandmaster Yang Jun and San Shou two-person play with Dr. Jay Dunbar and Kathleen Cusick. Anna is a singer\, composer\, and voice teacher by profession\, and her tai chi teaching is informed by its many similarities with vocal technique\, which she has been practicing and teaching for many years. \n\n\n\nClasses are by donation\, with a portion of the proceeds donated to the Camden Public Library.
