SUMMARY:Book Donations Open at the Blue Door Book Shed
DESCRIPTION:We welcome donations of materials that can be added to our collection or sold to support our programs\, including: \n\n\n\n\nHardcover\, paperback\, and audio books\n\n\n\nCDs and DVDs in cases\n\n\n\nPuzzles bagged inside boxes\n\n\n\n\nDue to space and sorting limitations\, we can only accept 2 bags or boxes at a time. \n\n\n\nAll items must be in good or better condition. Items in poor / unsellable condition\, or for which there is no market\, create a financial burden for the Library and extra work for volunteers. \n\n\n\n\nPlease do NOT bring: \n\n\n\n\nBooks with mold or mildew\, musty smell\, water damage\, missing dust jackets\, stained or torn covers\, broken spines\, writing inside\, or other physical damage;\n\n\n\nTextbooks\, condensed books\, self-published books\, encyclopedias\, journals\, or magazines;\n\n\n\nCassette or VHS tapes;\n\n\n\nContemporary fiction more than 10 years old;\n\n\n\nMedical\, health\, computer\, technology\, or reference books more than 2 years old.\n\n\n\n\n\nDonations may be brought in boxes or bags to the blue door book shed located in the Meadow Parking Lot on Atlantic Avenue on Tuesdays from 9am – 12pm. Please do not leave donations at any other time – the weather will get to them before our volunteers do. \n\n\n\nWe rely on volunteers who generously give their time to accept\, sort\, and pack your donations. Due to their time and our space limitations\, we can only accept 2 bags or boxes at a time. Please be prepared to wait for a few minutes while a volunteer accepts your donation. \n\n\n\nIf you have a donation larger than 2 bags/boxes or are unable to come on a Tuesday morning\, please call the Library at (207) 236-3440. A staff member will collect and forward your information to a volunteer who will contact you to make alternative arrangements. \n\n\n\nPlease do not bring donations directly to the Library – there is no storage available at this time. \n\n\n\nThank you for your support of the Camden Public Library!

SUMMARY:Yoga in the Amphitheatre with Denyse Robinson
DESCRIPTION:Yoga in the Amphitheatre is back! Enjoy breathtaking views of Camden Harbor while being guided through a sequence of Yoga poses that are at once grounding and uplifting. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nClasses are taught by Denyse Robinson\, Certified Yoga Teacher\, and will be held on Tuesdays and Fridays at 9:00 am through October. In July\, yoga will also be held on Mondays and Thursdays at 7:45 am. \n\n\n\nWe link breath with movement\, and mindfulness as we move together through an ever changing sequence of seated\, standing\, balance\, forward folds\, backbends and mildly inverted poses. \n\n\n\nFor more information and to get on Denyse’s email list\, please text her at 207-975-5325 or email at denyserobinson@gmail.com. You are welcome to just show up\, but it is recommended to join the email list in case of a scheduling or location change due to weather. \n\n\n\nA limited number of mats\, blocks\, and straps are provided.  If you like a blanket for practice\, please bring one. All levels are welcome. Donations are suggested with a portion of the proceeds donated directly to Camden Public Library. \n\n\n\nPlease note that the library opens at 10 AM and restrooms are not available before that time. \n\n\n\nThe grand oaks above swaying in the breeze\, the open sky\, the foreground of sailboats at play- all the while your feet solid on the Earth\, makes for a truly transformational experience.

DESCRIPTION:The Camden Public Library is pleased to offer a walking tour of downtown Camden for the 15th year in a row! Tours will take place on select summer Fridays at 4:00 PM. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThis entertaining and educational walking tour features a handful of historic sites in downtown Camden\, including the Camden Public Library grounds and Amphitheatre\, which were designated a National Historic Landmark in 2013. Learn about the people\, places\, and industries that continue to make Camden a special destination. \n\n\n\nThe tour begins in the Children’s Garden of the Camden Public Library on Atlantic Avenue and ends at the Village Green. DESCRIPTION:Camden Public Library welcomes author Connie Scanlon for a talk about her memoir Living the Dreams: Sketches of my Life on Thursday\, August 20 at 6:30 PM in the Picker Room.  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nInspired by old handwritten letters found in the bookcase as a child and the sound of the freight train passing through Lincoln\, ME\, Connie Scanlon was determined to explore new possibilities. As life moved onward\, the adventures of traveling and her unquenchable desire to gain more insight into music\, cultures and people inspired her to have her backpack standby. Her experience as a teacher\, a performer\, a healer\, a businesswoman\, and spontaneous traveler reverberate throughout the pages of this book. Her destiny was Europe. \n\n\n\nConnie Scanlon grew up in South Lincoln\, Maine. She is a graduate of Mattanawcook Academy and entered Boston Conservatory at the age of seventeen where she received her Bachelor of Music\, piano. Her master’s degree she received from the New England Conservatory in 1974 and was a student of Katja Andy. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAn endless search for the source of inspiration\, the lost chord\, the Holy Grail has colored her life with many unforgettable experiences. \n\n\n\nShe now permanently lives in The Netherlands with her partner\, Lia\, and enjoys the spirit of Maine streaming vigorously through her veins. \n\n\n\nSpirituality is normality\, humor is the twist\,Life; joy\, tears\, sorrow\, and laughter.  More on the list?Love is the basis\, begin with yourself\,Open your heart\, breathe the warmth\,Your smile\, unconditional wealth.

SUMMARY:Tai Chi and Qigong
DESCRIPTION:Enjoy the many benefits of tai chi and qigong through the exploration of movements and principles. These beginning classes are beneficial for people of all levels of fitness—developing awareness\, relaxation\, energy\, flexibility\, strength\, balance\, and pleasure in the open air. \n\n\n\nTai Chi meets in the Amphitheatre every Monday and Thursday morning at 10:30 a.m. \n\n\n\n\nAnna Dembska is a certified teacher of Yang Family tai chi. She studies tai chi and qigong with Mike Shunney in Rockland and Zhong Xuechao (Master Bing) from Wudang Mountain\, China. She has also studied Yang Family tai chi with Grandmaster Yang Jun and San Shou two-person play with Dr. Jay Dunbar and Kathleen Cusick. Anna is a singer\, composer\, and voice teacher by profession\, and her tai chi teaching is informed by its many similarities with vocal technique\, which she has been practicing and teaching for many years. \n\n\n\nClasses are by donation\, with a portion of the proceeds donated to the Camden Public Library. Rain location inside the library. \n\n\n\nAnna May is a critically acclaimed songwriter & vocalist who strives to bring jazz elements into the format of folk. Originally from Connecticut\, before becoming a western transplant\, Anna is a singular artist whose songs bear a placelessness that lends to their timeless nature.  \n\n\n\nAnna explores both estrangement and connection while taking cues from artists like Billie Holiday\, Shawn Colvin\, Neil Young\, Mazzy Star\, Lana del Rey\, and Leonard Cohen. As a yogi\, pianist\, teacher & poet\, she masterfully blends all of her influences into her songwriting. Anna May was nominated for best Indie song of 2023 by Indie Boulevard Magazine. \n\n\n\nAnna’s most recent single Atom Bomb was premiered by Under the Radar Magazine\, featured on Holler Country’s Best of Country playlist and Ditty TV’s New Music Playlist\, and reviewed by Earmilk. DESCRIPTION:We welcome donations of materials that can be added to our collection or sold to support our programs\, including: \n\n\n\n\nHardcover\, paperback\, and audio books\n\n\n\nCDs and DVDs in cases\n\n\n\nPuzzles bagged inside boxes\n\n\n\n\nDue to space and sorting limitations\, we can only accept 2 bags or boxes at a time. \n\n\n\nAll items must be in good or better condition. Items in poor / unsellable condition\, or for which there is no market\, create a financial burden for the Library and extra work for volunteers. \n\n\n\n\nPlease do NOT bring: \n\n\n\n\nBooks with mold or mildew\, musty smell\, water damage\, missing dust jackets\, stained or torn covers\, broken spines\, writing inside\, or other physical damage;\n\n\n\nTextbooks\, condensed books\, self-published books\, encyclopedias\, journals\, or magazines;\n\n\n\nCassette or VHS tapes;\n\n\n\nContemporary fiction more than 10 years old;\n\n\n\nMedical\, health\, computer\, technology\, or reference books more than 2 years old.\n\n\n\n\n\nDonations may be brought in boxes or bags to the blue door book shed located in the Meadow Parking Lot on Atlantic Avenue on Tuesdays from 9am – 12pm. Please do not leave donations at any other time – the weather will get to them before our volunteers do. \n\n\n\nWe rely on volunteers who generously give their time to accept\, sort\, and pack your donations. Due to their time and our space limitations\, we can only accept 2 bags or boxes at a time. Please be prepared to wait for a few minutes while a volunteer accepts your donation. \n\n\n\nIf you have a donation larger than 2 bags/boxes or are unable to come on a Tuesday morning\, please call the Library at (207) 236-3440. Don’t miss this unique theatre event.  \n\n\n\nAll performances begin at 6:00 p.m. and take place outside in the beautiful\, historic Amphitheatre. The production is suitable for all ages. Chairs provided.
