SUMMARY:Tai Chi and Qigong
DESCRIPTION:Enjoy the many benefits of tai chi and qigong through the exploration of movements and principles. These beginning classes are beneficial for people of all levels of fitness—developing awareness\, relaxation\, energy\, flexibility\, strength\, balance\, and pleasure in the open air. \n\n\n\nTai Chi meets in the Amphitheatre every Monday and Thursday morning at 10:30 a.m. \n\n\n\n\nAnna Dembska is a certified teacher of Yang Family tai chi. She studies tai chi and qigong with Mike Shunney in Rockland and Zhong Xuechao (Master Bing) from Wudang Mountain\, China. She has also studied Yang Family tai chi with Grandmaster Yang Jun and San Shou two-person play with Dr. Jay Dunbar and Kathleen Cusick. Anna is a singer\, composer\, and voice teacher by profession\, and her tai chi teaching is informed by its many similarities with vocal technique\, which she has been practicing and teaching for many years. \n\n\n\nClasses are by donation\, with a portion of the proceeds donated to the Camden Public Library. For more information contact Anna at camdentaiji@gmail.com. \n\n\n\n(Emailing Anna is strongly encouraged so that you can be contacted in case the class is canceled and to confirm if the class will happen in the Amphitheatre or on the Upper Lawn.)

SUMMARY:Camden Conference Community Event: 'The Shifting Balance of Soft Power Between the US & China' with Kate Hotchkiss Taylor
DESCRIPTION:The Camden Public Library\, as a part of the Camden Conference Community Events Series\, welcomes Kate Hotchkiss Taylor for a presentation that discusses the far-reaching effects the shifting balance of power has on the USA\, China\, and the rest of the world\, including impacts on our youngest generations. This event will take place in person only in the Picker Room at 6:30 PM. \n\n\n\nWith China Outpacing the USA in Soft Power\, what is Maine’s Impact & Responsibility? \n\n\n\nCombining on-the-ground experience serving as United Nations partnership officer in Beijing with global developments\, Taylor explores the United States retreat from multilateral engagements and how this creates a leadership vacuum China is filling earlier than its government officials had planned. \n\n\n\nTaylor will discuss the far-reaching effects this shifting balance of power has on the USA\, China\, and the rest of the world\, including its impacts on our youngest generations. Kate will conclude with an urgent vision for Maine and everywhere: adopting the Child-Lens Investing Framework\, resulting in thriving lives every child deserves – and potential renewed respect for the United States on the global stage. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nKate Hotchkiss Taylor has 40+ years of business\, government and United Nations experience in Asia\, Europe\, North America\, and the Middle East\, including living in China for twelve years. She teaches Mandarin K-12 and Korean at the North Haven Community School and advises companies on impact investing through a child lens. She is also the author of the On Harbor’s Edge series. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThis event is presented in anticipation of the 40th Annual Camden Conference\, Beyond the American Century: A New World Order? taking place live from the Camden Opera House from February 19 – 21\, 2027. \n\n\n\nThis program WILL be recorded and posted on the CPL youtube channel and Camden Conference website.
