Memoir and Personal Essay Class

Monday, November 4 @ 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Putting our life story on paper can take many forms. Today’s memoir is not yesterday’s autobiography or the biographies many of us grew up. If you think linear timeline and “chock full of facts” when you think of memoir, this mini session will expand your perspective. Modern memoir is more deeply layered and textured, richly depicting a life journey, not just facts. Often they illustrate a particular life phase or time frame, rather than an entire lifetime.

Personal essays give a writer space to share their perspectives and opinions. By capturing episodes from life experiences that have brought a person in touch with humanity and sense of self, writers can bear witness to their own evolution and transformation, while providing insights to others.

Join us at the Camden Public Library for a FREE an interactive 2-hour mini session that will provide tools and techniques for developing inspired stories. Come prepared with pen and paper (or laptop) to participate in exercises and prompts. Registration required. Please call 236-3440 to sign-up.
