Influenza and Local Outbreaks – Midcoast Medical Reserve Corps. Presentation
Wednesday, August 28 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm
This program, focusing on Influenza and local outbreaks, is sponsored by the Midcoast Medical Reserve Corps. The dedicated volunteers with Maine Responds and the Maine Medical Reserve Corps most recently responded to the Portland Expo Asylee Shelter during the months of June through August 2019. We seek volunteers throughout the state to help reinforce our public health and healthcare systems, and to prepare local areas for disasters and emergencies of all types. We desire the skills of licensed medical professionals, just as much as community members with logistics and administrative talents. If you are interested in learning more about influenza and local outbreaks, you are welcome to attend this program. Those who enjoy helping neighbors will have the opportunity to learn more about volunteering with Maine Responds and the Midcoast Medical Reserve Corps. Please bring your own lunch to this noontime program.
The program will be presented by: Rachel Keefe BA, MSc, MPH – Field Epidemiologist
Keefe is a local resident of Rockland and grew up in the Mid-coast area. She has a BA in biology from Colby-Sawyer college, NH and a MSc in Ecotoxicology along with an MPH in public health and health economics from the university of Gothenburg, Gothenburg Sweden. She spent time abroad doing both, environmental and public health research and returned to Mid-coast Maine after doing food borne disease and health related quality of life research in Kenya in 2017. She is currently the Field epidemiologist for Mid-coast Maine at ME CDC and have been in this position for two years.
