Explorations Read-Aloud: “Winterdance: The Fine Madness of Running the Iditarod” by Gary Paulsen
Friday, March 4, 2022 @ 11:00 am – 12:00 pm
Every Friday, at 11:00 am, on the library’s YouTube Channel and Facebook Page, the library will stream a brand new recording of local thespian, Joseph Coté reading aloud selections from a wide variety of fascinating and entertaining books of fiction and non-fiction. This is a program to help keep our community connected to books during the pandemic when we are unable to meet in person.
For March 4, Coté will read aloud from Gary Paulsen’s book Winterdance: The Fine Madness of Running the Iditarod, anticipating Iditarod 2022 kicking off on March 5. Summary: Fueled by a passion for running dogs, Gary Paulsen entered the Iditarod — the eleven hundred and eight mile sled-dog race through the Alaskan wilderness — in dangerous ignorance and with a fierce determination. For seventeen days, he and his team of dogs endured blinding wind, snowstorms, frostbite, dog-fights, moose attacks, sleeplessness, hallucinations — and the relentless push to go on. Winterdance is the enthralling account of “‘stunning wilderness journey of discovery and transformation” (Chicago Tribune).
