Explorations Read-Aloud: “Fire From Heaven” by Mary Renault

Friday, January 21 @ 11:00 am 12:00 pm

Every Friday, at 11:00 am, on the library’s YouTube Channel and Facebook Page, the library will stream a brand new recording of local thespian, Joseph Coté reading aloud selections from a wide variety of fascinating and entertaining books of fiction and non-fiction. This is a program to help keep our community connected to books during the pandemic when we are unable to meet in person.

For January 21, Coté will read aloud from Mary Renault’s novel Fire From Heaven. Summary: New York Times bestseller and Man Booker Prize finalist, Mary Renault’s novel about Alexander the Great shines as a modern classic piece of historical fiction. In this dramatization of Alexander’s formative years, Renault explores Alexander’s relationships with his parents and his friend-turned-lover and offers an incredible, breath-taking imagining of what it must have been like to come of age while commanding an army and battling for southern Greece.
