This month’s Destination Wellness speaker is Greg Smith, MS, LMT, who will speak on “Presence in Healing” on Monday, October 17, at 12:00 noon. What is life? What is consciousness? Can we truly heal ourselves? What does health mean? Smith will elucidate on these questions and more in his talk, “Are You Present?” Join us to broaden your view of health and wellness by learning about PIH: Presence in Healing. PIH allows for a greater feeling of being ‘present’ and ‘in’ one’s body. A state of increased awareness can support many of life’s challenges including clarifying personal boundaries, increasing one’s ability to authentically connect with others, and heighten one’s creativity. Life becomes easier and more enjoyable when more aspects of the self are here/now. Remaining in a state of awareness more readily allows for healing to take place, particularly when combined with body-work sessions to reduce chronic pain, move more easily through a life transition, overcome past trauma, improve self-image, change behavioral patterns, or attain a new level of mastery in one’s work.
Greg Smith, LMT, has always been fascinated by how things work, including living beings. This curiosity led to degrees in biology and oceanography, and later becoming a Licensed Massage Therapist. Massage training was a useful addition to the work he was developing. By combining massage with awareness, presence, and ability to connect more deeply with clients, he offers a unique and beneficial experience at Spectrum Bodywork in Rockland, Maine.
