An Insider’s Guide to the Blue Hill Peninsula

Thursday, July 30, 2020 @ 6:00 pm 7:00 pm

The Camden Public Library announces a new series of travel talks to help area residents become better acquainted with the marvelous destinations within a two-hour (or less) drive. These travel talks will be exceptionally pertinent during the COVID-induced summer “staycationing.” The series kicks off with an online presentation by Chrissy Beardsley Allen called, “Discover the Blue Hill Peninsula.” The program will be hosted on the Zoom platform. Email jpierce@librarycamden.org to request a link to attend.

The Blue Hill Peninsula has drawn diverse and creative people to its communities for years. The region is made up of several small towns, each unique and offering something special. “Whether you are seeking incredible food and drink, are looking for art galleries, music events, or literary festivals, or just want to immerse yourself in nature on land or sea, the Blue Hill Peninsula will satisfy all of these interests and more,” says Allen.

Allen is a multi-generational “local,” the Development Director for Blue Hill Heritage Trust, and President of the Board for Blue Hill Peninsula Chamber of Commerce. Her presentation will provide an overview of the region along with some precious “inside tips” for how to have the best possible experience exploring the peninsula. Allen is particularly invested in farm land preservation and public outdoor spaces, and she is excited to discuss the conservation efforts underway to ensure the Blue Hill Peninsula remains one of the great natural playgrounds of Maine.
