At its regularly scheduled reading and discussion group on the third Tuesday of the month, the Camden Philosophical Society meets to discuss a wide range of topics. Topics and readings will be announced in the weeks leading up to each event. Stay tuned for details, or email Sarah Miller at email@example.com.
The next gathering of the Camden Philosophical Society reading and discussion group, on Tuesday, Aug. 20, will continue the inquiry begun last month into the intersection of indigenous and socialist thought and how it might be responsive to the ecological crisis we now face. The society meets in the Picker Room of the Camden Public Library, from 3:30-5:30 pm. All are welcome.
We ask participants to read excerpts from Red Alert: Saving the Planet with Indigenous Knowledge by Daniel R. Wildcat (Yuchi, Muscogee), who is the director of the American Indian Studies program and the Haskell Environmental Research Studies Center at Haskell Indian Nations University, as well as a brief excerpt from Karl Marx, Economic and Philosophic Manuscripts of 1844.
