Welcome to the Walsh History Center! The Center collects and cares for items of historical significance to Camden and Rockport. Stop in and read the Camden Herald newspapers (1869-present), browse the map collection, trace your roots, or look for friends and family in our collection of high school yearbooks (1896-present). We have hundreds of historical photos, documents from the earliest settlers of the area, diaries, family genealogies and other reference books, and much more.
The History Center is always interested in adding to our collection, so please remember us when cleaning out your attic! If you aren’t ready to part with family treasures like photos, letters, and diaries but want to help add to the story of our towns, bring them in and staff can quickly scan them and return them to you, or give you a digital copy in return for originals.
Interested in finding your ancestors? The Center has vital records and reference books for many towns in Maine and New England and offers access to online databases like Ancestry, FamilySearch, and the New England Historic & Genealogical Society. AncestryLibrary can be accessed for free from within the library only.
