What Makes A Beautiful Boat? Bob Stephens on Yacht Design August 1, 1:00 pm

“What makes a Beautiful Boat?” August 1, 1:00 pm.

Bob Stephens has been creating beautiful boats for more than thirty years, both as a builder and a designer. His designs are synonymous with the “Spirit of Tradition” genre, combining traditional lines and old-school craftsmanship with modern high-performance design and materials. He is a principal at Stephens Waring Yacht Design in Belfast, Maine.

Bob’s talk will help inform why boating has seen such intense interest in the Classic and Spirit of Tradition genres and the rise of such gorgeous spectacles as the Camden Classic Cup and Eggemoggin Reach Regatta, which bookend Classic Week. He’ll use plentiful and photographs from today’s premier maritime photographers, including Camden’s own Alison Langley, to illustrate the subtle cues and details that make a boat a classic– whether a hundred years old, or brand new.
