Successful Summer Book Sale!

Thanks to hard-working volunteers, the library had another successful summer book sale. Don White, chair of the library’s book sales, reported income of just over seven thousand dollars for the weekend.

White said the sale was a success because of the many volunteers including a group of local teens who are members of the National Honor Society. Businesses and organizations who pitched in with goods and services were: Hannafords of Rockport-Camden; Down East Books; Party Fundamentals; Rankins; EBS; and Mercer Baxter Landscaping. Also contributing was the Camden Congregational Church and the Camden Fire Department. Volunteers spent more 200 hours preparing and putting on the sale. Those interested in volunteering may call White at 236-4885. Book donations are accepted throughout the year!

Nikki Maounis, Director of the Camden Public Library accepts a check from Don White, Chair of the Library’s Book Sale in the amount of $1,760 from the Special Preview Sale prior to the summer book sale under the tents, earlier this month. Sales from the Preview Sale benefited the library’s special Stock the Stacks book fund drive. Maounis thanked the cadre of volunteers for their dedication and hard work in putting on six sales a year and a monthly appearance on eBay.

The next book sale is in the library’s Picker Room August 28 and 29.
