Second Saturday Stories! July 10th

Join Miss Amy for some great summer stories and songs at 10:00am.  In the Children’s Garden if it’s nice and if there is rain, it will move inside!  Hope to see you there!

LEGO LOVERS CLUB!

 We’ll meet for our 2nd afternoon! 30+ kids hauled their Lego buckets and created and were inspired by other creators for over an hour in June.  Everyone had a blast!   The floor was a colorful heap of piles and the creative energy was so much fun!  Please join us again, and bring a friend. Bring your own bucket, pick a space on the floor and build away!!! All Ages welcome!

Summer Reading Program 2010
Summer reading program will be sponsored by Amity
 Masonic Lodge of Camden through their Bikes for Books Campaign and SeaDogs Baseball and Camden National Bank
4-8 year olds will meet Thursdays from 10-11:00.
9-12 year olds will meet Thursdays from 11:30-12:30.
 Unless otherwise noted!
· July 8th Summer Reading Kick-off event…When school ends, start keeping track of the books you read. Come in to get a packet, start your creative juices flowing.   Ocean Diaramas! Bring a clear plastic covered jar. Any size.  We’ll be creating our own undersea worlds.
· July 15th Boat building day…we’ll launch them in the harbor after. Hope they float! Tons of fun, so put your thinking caps on and think about what you want your boat to look like!
· July 22rd Fish Tales!! We’ll hear some fishy favorites and make fish wind socks! Fishy face painting too!
· July 29th join us and Chewonki for a special program Water and Wildlife…animals depend on water for survival. See some real live water dwellers and hear their story. Learn how we can help protect the water around us for animals.
· August 5th 11:00 both groups, Join us for a special performance to be announced!
· August 12th Summer Reading Finale’ Luau ! Please join us to celebrate our reading success with our own Hawaiian Luau. Limbo, water relays, dress in Hawaiian attire! Bring a bag lunch and join us for the afternoon. 11:00-1:00          
 
In addition, each week participants will be challenged to learn another library skill, and then put it to use!
 
Maine Discovery Museum Library Pass is Back!

This free pass is available through the library for Camden Public Library card holders.  Last year we had 48 families from our area utilize this pass and make a day of it North in Bangor.  The children’s museum has special events etc. on a monthly basis and is for general admission for up to 4.  This is a fantastic opportunity to enjoy a day out with the family.  We hope that more families will take advantage of the pass this year.  Call to reserve your day and get your pass from the library or to get more details.

Booktime for Babies Booktime for Babies

 BookTime for Babies…Developing Great Minds! 

For children birth to age 2, every Wednesday  morning at 10:00am in the Jean Picker Room.  Join Miss Amy for songs, finger plays, read-alouds and more!   A great opportunity for babies to interact with other babies of different ages and for caregivers to have some big people time!  Always a fun morning with the kids! This program will continue all summer.  Summer visitors always welcome!
 
Maine Student Book Award to continue through the summer!

 Maine Student Book Award Club! 

2010-2011 Hear what other 4th-8th graders have to say about the books they are reading from the MSBA list and off the list! It’s a great opportunity to hear about great books from other kids! Call to let me know you’re coming! 236-3440 Tues. July 20th 5:30-6:30.   Pick up your new list, add your name to the list and grab a book and start reading!!! Be ready to booktalk your book.

 

 

 

 

Babbling Books
Continues in the Children’s room at 10:00 on Monday mornings and is geared towards preschool and toddlers.   This is a more informal story time for those very busy bodies.  Join Miss Amy for some great stories weekly.  This program continues all summer long.  All are welcome!

   

Beginning Reader Book Club:  We will continue reading another Chickadee book. Check out the cool book projects we’ve done on the wall near the Beginning Readers.  Check out all the new books in our beginning readers.  We’ll meet on Monday May 10th and May 24th at 4:00pm in the J-room. 
 

 

 

Story Hour for 2 & 3 year olds Fridays at 10:00
Join Miss Amy on Fridays only, at 10:00 for two and three year olds.  Come join us to celebrate the magic and wonder of reading, through books, rhymes, songs, flannel board stories, finger plays, puppets, dramatic play and thematic crafts.
