This seminar is intended to be like an informal book group in which participants will watch one of the generally recognized great foreign films of all time, then discuss its meaning, purpose, personal impact, context—whatever strikes one as interesting about the experience of watching the film. All works will be subtitled, many–though not all–will be in black and white, and all will be groundbreaking contributions to the genre. The film for this session is Au Husard Balzthazar.
