Thousands of books in 29 categories will be on sale beginning on Friday, September 29, and running through Saturday, September 30, from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, and continuing on Sunday, October 1, from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm.

Topics will range from biographies to young adult books and everything in between. Featured will be books on business, cooking, essays, gardening, health, history, hobbies and crafts, humor and satire, nature, pets, quilting, marine subjects, Maine, performing arts, philosophy, poetry, religion, sci-fi and fantasy to science, sports, and travel. Books in foreign languages, books for children and young adults, fiction and nonfiction paperbacks, and fiction by authors from around the world will be for sale.

Books are $3 each except for tabletop books which are priced individually. Children’s books range from 50 cents to $2 each. Paperbacks are $1 each. There will be a very large selection of music from classical to country on CDs and movies of varied genre on DVDs and VHS as well as books on tape. CDs are $2 each, and $4 for a set of two or more CDs. VHS tapes are 50 cents each. Records and sheet music will also be available – records for $1 each and sheet music for 50 cents each.

The supply of books will be refreshed continually during the sale. Many books have just been donated to the library in the last couple of weeks and will make their first appearance at our book sale.

Volunteers are needed to help set up for the sale on Thursday, September 28, at 9:00 am. “We are looking for volunteers to serve for three-hour shifts as cashiers and to refresh the tables of books during the sale. Volunteers are also needed to help pack up books at the end of the sale, on Monday, October 2, at 9:00 am,” says Susan Fitzgerald, book sale coordinator. For information about volunteering for any phase of the book sale, please call the Library at 236-3440.

All of the funds raised at the book sale will be used to purchase new books and for children and adult programs at the Camden Public Library.
