P2PDance Center, based in Camden on 27 Knowlton Street, will be performing “Carnival of the
Animals” and “Don Quixote” at the Camden Amphitheatre on Wednesday, August 1st at 5:30
p.m. The Rain Date is Sunday, August 5th at 5:30 p.m.
Twenty three local dancers have committed to training in P2P Dance Center’s “Dance Your Dream”
Summer Program, July 2nd through August 5th. Their home towns include Camden, Rockport, Hope
Belfast, Northport, Union, Lincolnville, and Waldoboro.
A young 16 year old dancer from Cuenca, Equador, Emilia Luna, will be featured as a soloist in the
Don Quixote portion of the performance. She has trained at the Alfonso Fusion School in Cuba in
Flamenco and Rumba and at the Isadora Duncan School in Clasical Ballet, Point, Modern and Jazz
style Dance. Miss Luna has been studying with P2P Dance Center since July. .
“Carnival of the Animals” is a cartoonish ballet appropriate for all family members. This story,
choreographed by directors Michele and Heather Cox, is set to the music of the famous composer
Saint Saens and is narrated by Michele Cox. In the Wednesday, August 1st, 5:30 p.m.(rain
date: Sunday, August 5th, 5:30 p.m.) performance at the Camden Amphitheatre, the intermediate and
junior level dancers will perform the roles of the graceful Swan, the ornery wild Donkey, the twin figity
hens, the sure, but much too slow turtle, the slippery fish and the cutesy elephant.
The King Lion has declared that he will hold a Kingdom wide audition for animals to compete for the
title of his grand pas de deux partner.
Don Quixote is a grand bravado type ballet featuring the P2P Dance Center’s advanced level ballet
dancers, both teens and adults and several local male dancers who train with P2P Dance Center..
